Dr Sikarin Sornphiphatphong, MD FRCST

Dr Sikarin currently is the General and Laparoscopic surgeon in Paolo Hospital, Phaholyothin, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), Bangkok, Thailand. He previously a General surgeon in Sirindhorn Hospital, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Bangkok, Thailand. Dr Sikarin study in the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand from 2001-2007. He continue his education in the Department of Surgery, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital (KCMH), Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand from 2010 to 2014. He did his Advanced Endo-Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery in Chulalongkorn Minimally Invasive Surgery Center (CMISC), Department of Surgery, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital (KCMH), Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Dr Vimal K Vasudeavan

Mr. Vimal performs high-end advanced laparoscopic bariatric surgery (weight reduction) such as gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass for patients with obesity-related complications such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension and sleep disorders. Mr. Vimal also provides treatment for the entire spectrum of general surgical diseases and performs operative procedures relating to the thyroid gland, salivary glands, breasts, the entire gastrointestinal tract (including the stomach, small & large intestines, rectum and anus), abdominal wall hernia, skin and subcutaneous skin lesions, to name a few. Dr Kaisuke Yamamoto currently is the director of Inguinal Hernia Center, he is also the National Hospital Organization Chiba Medical Center Surgical Staff. He performed more than 2,700 Inguinal hernia treatment (Inguinal incision: 1700 lesions / laparoscopic surgery: 1000 lesions), more than 130 Abdominal wall scar hernia treatment and more than 70 Umbilical hernia treatment. He affiliated with Japan Surgical Society / Japan Hernia Society, Japan Endoscopic Surgery Society / Japan Gastroenterological Surgery Society, Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society / Japan Abdominal Emergency Medicine Society.

Dr Soon Yuen

Dr Soon Yuen is ‚Äčthe Head of the Division of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery and a Senior Consultant with the Department of General Surgery at JurongHealth Campus, practising at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Medical Centre.

He was trained at Charing Cross Westminster Medical School, which is now part of the Imperial Group. He practised in the tertiary regional oesophagogastric and laparoscopic unit at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, UK, as a senior consultant surgeon for seven years before he returned to Singapore.

Dr Soon has a special interest in complex oesophageal and stomach surgery, for example, stomach and oesophageal cancer and benign upper GI surgery (including reflux, complex recurrent hiatus hernia surgery and oesophageal emergencies).

As a general surgeon with expertise in laparoscopic and oesophagogastric surgery, Dr Soon has made contributions to advanced, innovative and modern surgical techniques. He is a pioneer in developing and establishing new techniques in virtually scarless surgery (single port surgery). He has used this virtually scarless technique extensively in hernia repairs and to a lesser extent, in stomach and gallbladder surgery. He has published many papers about this type of surgery.

Dr Soon also has a keen interest in teaching and education, and has taught as a laparoscopic trainer and visiting expert in Europe, Middle East, Pakistan and Southeast Asia. He is a regular speaker at many conferences, such as Arab Health, EAES and other international conferences.

Mr Yan Yang Wai

Mr Yan Yang Wai Senior Consultant And Head Of Department of General Surgery, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun Ipoh. His special interests in Minimally Invasive Surgery, Therapeutic Endoscopy, Day Care Surgery. Mr Yan held the position of Chief Coordinator of Day Care Surgery Services in Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia since 2013. Chaired the committee in the production of the National Policy Guidelines for Day Care Services in Malaysia in 2016. Chaired the committee in the production of Standard Operating Procedures in Day Care Surgery in Malaysia in 2016. Championing ‘True Day Care Surgery’ and responsible for the introduction of Index Day Care Surgery Procedures to promote Day Care Surgery in Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia.

Dr Sakutnan Mark
Consultant MIS and General and Bariatric Surgeon,
Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun

Dr Sakutnan Mark graduated from Manipal Academy of Higher Learning in the year 2004. He then pursued his carrier in general surgery and obtained his Masters in Surgery from University of Science, Malaysia. He then completed his training in laparoscopy with a diploma from Strasbourg. With interest in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery he pursued a fellowship program in Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery in King Chulalongkorn Medical University; Bangkok. He is currently a general and Bariatric surgeon in Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh and an Adjunct Lecturer in Surgery, for University Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP). Apart from minimal access surgery he has keen interest in clinical nutrition. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the Malaysian Medical Association Perak Branch, the secretary of the Malaysian Hernia Society and Committee Member of the Society of Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Society of Malaysia (SELSMA).

Dr Gafoor Mubarak

Dr Gafoor Mubarak is a General and Bariatric Surgeon from Malaysia . He is founding member of the Malaysia Hernia Society where he holds position from Vice President currently. He runs  practice at Island Hospital, Penang, Malaysia has represented Malaysia numerous times in conference. He acted  the secretary for the recent ELSA congress in Kuala Lumpur and acts the Vice President for the Malaysian Society of Endolaparoscopic Surgeons of Malaysia.

Dr Wan Mokhzani Wan Mokhter

Universiti Sains Malaysia

Dr Wan Mokhzani Wan Mokhter completed his M.Med in General Surgery (USM) in 2013 and underwent training in laparoscopic hernia surgery in Hospital UKM in 2017. Since then he’s embarked on performing surgeries and training surgical trainees in the field of laparoscopic inguinal and ventral hernia repair in Hospital USM. He’s also actively involved in various administrative and academic activities under his capacity as Senior Medical Lecturer at the School of Medicine, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He currently holds the post of Exco member of Malaysian Hernia Society and ordinary member of SELSMA.
