Dr Venkatesh Munikrishnan is one of Chennai’s top colorectal surgeons with an illustrious career spanning over 26 years. He completed his MBBS at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai in 1995. Following this he moved to the UK in 1996 for his specialist training in surgery at Cambridge University Teaching Hospitals. Dr Munikrishnan spent a significant portion of his career accruing international exposure and training.

In 2000, he was appointed as Clinical Research Fellow at the University College London to undertake research into screening for colorectal cancer. His work was successfully published in reputed medical journals and presented at various international meetings. He was also awarded the Membership to the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) of Edinburgh in 2000. In 2003, he was appointed as Specialist Registrar in General/Colorectal Surgery to the UK South West Higher Surgical Training Programme. Over the years, Dr Munikrishnan has developed a keen interest in the management of all colorectal diseases as well as the emerging role of robotics in colorectal surgery.

An avid teacher, Dr Munikrishnan is actively involved in teaching surgical techniques to postgraduates both in India and in the UK. In his free time, Dr Munikrishnan enjoys keeping fit with a brisk jog or trekking and hikking, and actively advocating to increase colorectal disease awareness on his social media platforms. He is currently Clinical Lead and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at the Institute of Colorectal Surgery, Apollo Hospitals (Main), Greams Road, Chennai.


Dr Charles Tsang

Adj Associate Professor Charles Tsang is a highly accomplished surgeon and frequently invited speaker at many international meetings for his expertise in the management of colorectal cancer and complex anal fistula. He is well-versed in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for both cancers and benign disorders, proctology, advanced therapeutic endoscopy and functional bowel disorders such as constipation and incontinence. He has also authored and co-authored numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to several book chapters. 

An International Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery and an elected member of the Board of Governors of the Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia, he was the Head and Senior Consultant in the Division of Colorectal Surgery and Head of Surgical Oncology with the National University Cancer Institute in Singapore before moving to private practice in 2012.

Adj Associate Professor Tsang currently practices full time as a colorectal surgeon at Colorectal Clinic Associates and is a Visiting Senior Consultant at the Department of Colorectal Surgery in Singapore General Hospital. Additionally, he also holds the position of Adjunct Associate Professor of Surgery in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

Dr Manish Chand is an experienced specialist surgeon and global key opinion leader in the field of colorectal surgery and colorectal cancer.

Based at 116 Harley Street, The London Clinic, he has a busy practise centred around minimally-invasive laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery using the latest evidence-based techniques. He also holds medical licences in UAE and India with practicing privileges at Al-Zahra Hospital, Dubai and Apollo Hospital, Chennai where he has helped treat complex patient problems. He also operates with and trains surgeons in many other countries on latest techniques.

Mr Chand offers the highest standards of care for his patients across a spectrum of colorectal and gastrointestinal conditions including rectal bleeding, haemorrhoids, perianal fistula, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, abdominal pain, bloating and hernia.

Mr Chand is closely involved in a global collaboration with Professor Steven D. Wexner (Cleveland Clinic), Professor Antonio Lacy (Hospital Clinic Barcelona) and Dr Venkatesh Munikrishnan (Apollo Hospital).

Dr Sangar Perumal
Colorectal Surgeon

Dr Sangar Perumal is a senior consultant colorectal surgeon and Head of Department of Surgery in KPJ Rawang Hospital. He is also a visiting colorectal surgeon at KPJ Tawakkal, KPJ Klang and Columbia Asia Cheras Hospital.

He graduated from KMC Manipal India and obtained his Master in Surgery from UKM. Dr Sangar completed his colorectal fellowship under Ministry of Health Malaysia. His special interest is in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and perianal disease.


Dr Cherylin Fu
Senior Consultant

Dr Cherylin Fu is a senior consultant surgeon under the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Singapore General Hospital. She is also a consultant in Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore, as well as the Director of the Pelvic Floor Disorders Service at the Singapore General Hospital.

She completed her advanced specialist training in colorectal surgery under the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2012 and did her fellowship in Brisbane, Australia in 2013, pursuing her interests in pelvic floor disorders and advanced minimally invasive colorectal surgery.

Her special interests are in advanced laparoscopic techniques such as Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision (taTME) as well as pelvic floor disorders, specialising in procedures such as laparoscopic ventral rectopexy and sacral neuromodulation.
